Caretaker

Responsibilities:

  • Help clients take prescribed medication.
  • Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
  • Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
  • Help clients with physical therapy exercises.
  • Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able).
  • Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own.
  • Be a pleasant and supportive companion.
  • Report any unusual incidents.
  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a caregiver.
  • Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints.
  • Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Respectful and compassionate.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ethics.
  • Physical endurance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Home Nurse

Responsibilities:

  • Traveling to patients’ homes and managing their care plans according to physicians’ instructions.
  • Administering medication and insulin, and completing blood pressure, glucose, urine, and stool tests.
  • Inspecting wounds, changing dressings, and handling personal grooming and hygiene.
  • Testing for muscle weakness, bedsores, and any signs of infection.
  • Listening to the concerns of family members and answering their questions.
  • Educating caregivers and family on the aftercare or ongoing care of the patient.
  • Providing suggestions for improved healthcare to physicians and family members of the patient.
  • Monitoring patient recovery and compiling reports for the physician.
  • Keeping abreast of developments in healthcare and attending workshops and lectures as required.
  • Collaborating with doctors and other healthcare professionals to develop improved diets and healthcare plans for patients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or similar.
  • Additional courses in biology, anatomy, and science may be required.
  • Relevant license and certification.
  • A completed apprenticeship or experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to follow instructions but also to act independently if necessary.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Active listening skills and empathy.
  • Physical and mental strength.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transport may be required.

Babysitter

Responsibilities:

  • Provides care to children inside and outside the home.
  • Prepares healthy meals.
  • Maintains daily schedule.
  • Performs light housework.
  • Leads children in fun activities.
  • Keeps children’s living and play areas tidy.
  • Helps with homework and tutoring as needed.
  • Cares for infants, including feeding, diapering, and dressing.
  • Meets the physical, social, and emotional needs of children in their care.
  • Provides structure and communicates consistent behavioural expectations.
  • Encourages healthy habits and hygiene, and helps with toilet training.
  • Transports children, including school pickup and drop-off, play dates, and activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a babysitter, nanny, teacher, or camp counsellor.
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Certification in first aid and child and infant CPR.
  • Experience with special needs children.
  • High school diploma, associate’s degree in child development a plus.
  • State certification in early childhood education a plus.
